One of my favorite websites about the art and business of cartooning is Mike Peterson’s Comic Strip of the Day.
First of all, Mike is an intelligent and skillful writer; his prose alone is worth reading. He writes not only about cartooning and cartoonists, but also about the social, political and cultural influences that inform our work.
Today he writes about Sleeper Ave., which makes me happy, and not just for the publicity, but because he goes on at length about early TV and its impact on the society.
It’s a must read for anyone interested in a multitude of topics, from the simple pleasures of cartooning to how we form our ideas about who we are. It’s that kind of insightful commentary that sets Mike’s writing apart.
