Really? THIS is the greatest movie ever? We drove all the way to Dallas to see THIS? It’s not in color. I thought it was color!
It’s not even good black and white! It’s this weird washed-out brownish gray! And it’s about a GIRL! A girl who sings. Is this a musical? I hate musicals! This is getting worse and worse. And where’s the wizard, anyway?
Quiet, Mom said Just keep watching.
And now there’s a TORNADO!
She knows I’m scared of tornadoes! Why would she take me to this horrible movie?
LET”S GO! I WANT TO GO!
But then the door opens and…
I’ve never in my whole life seen anything so wonderful, so magical! The color, the scenery, the characters, even the music. I am transported.
This has to be the best movie ever made.
Except for the witch. The flying monkeys were scary enough, but the WITCH! With that horrid green face. She is look-away-cover-your-eyes scary! Which, of course, I couldn’t.
I loved the scarecrow best, but I felt more like the cowardly lion. If the wizard could grant me my wish, it, it would be for more courage.
On the way home it started to rain. Mom wanted to talk about the movie, but all I wanted to do was watch for tornadoes.
Eddie, relax. It’s just a little rain. Nothing to worry about.
Right. The clouds swirled above us and the rain grew heavier. And suddenly I knew why the witch scared me so much.
Her skin was exactly the same poisonous green the sky turned the day the tornado hit Waco.
